Spring/Summer Seed Blends

WMS Pea Patch
  • AVAILABLE AROUND MARCH

WMS Pea Patch is one of the best summer management blends on the market. This carefully chosen mix of peas, beans, buckwheat and sunflowers provides quality forage from spring until the first frost. Buckwheat emerges within a few days and grows fast to provide early forage. This early forage serves as a great nurse crop for establishing peas and beans. Sunflowers provide the climbing structure for the peas. The backbone of this blend consists of the 3 different varieties of running and bush type peas and beans. These varieties are designed to offer palatable, leafy forage at different stages, providing feed throughout the summer. With protein levels at 25% and up to 8 tons of forage per acre, WMS Pea Patch will give your deer herd all the nutrition it needs for maximum antler growth and over all health. Excellent for summer whitetail nutrition.

WMS Dove Magnet

Possibly the best bird mix available! Millet, sunflowers, and sorghum are combined to produce a true dove magnet. Also great for turkeys, quail and pheasant!

WMS Duck Magnet

A blend of millets, grain sorghum, egyptian wheat and rice that provides a variety of preferred duck feed that will persist through late season.

WMS Sanctuary Mix

WMS Sanctuary Mix is a Perennial Cover mix designed to provide wildlife with bedding and nesting cover.

Native warm-season grasses are the backbone of this mix. Upon maturity, these grasses will create a tall overhead cover that will provide a sanctuary for whitetails and ideal nesting for wild turkeys and other game birds. The grasses are tall but easy for wildlife to navigate and also make a great perennial screen. Create a sanctuary on your property with WMS Sanctuary Mix!

Frosty Berseem Clover

    FROSTY Berseem Clover is a great annual clover that resembles alfalfa in growth and appearance. FROSTY Berseem Clover is a true winter clover and provides more tonnage than other clovers during deer season. FROSTY handles a wide array of soil types, from poorly-drained, heavy clays, to well drained sandy loams. In recent deer preference trials, at Mississippi State University, FROSTY placed #1 in drawing deer during deer season!

    FROSTY Berseem Clover can be planted alone or in a mix.

    • Plant FROSTY at 15 lbs. per acre in a pure stand.
    WMS Alabama Blend
    • AVAILABLE AROUND JULY-AUGUST

    At WMS, Inc. we field many questions pertaining to planting for whitetails. The most commonly asked question is “What is the most attractive fall food plot blend I can plant for deer season”? We took several factors into consideration, attractiveness, aggressive growth, longevity, ability to thrive in southern soils, and nutritional quality. After planting numerous combinations and measuring time to available forage, re-growth after browsing, deer utilization, deer observations, and response to nitrogen fertilizer, we believe we have developed the best hunting plot blend on the market.

    WMS Alabama Blend is the answer for southern soils!

    WMS Alabama Blend is an 8-part mix that is comprised of selected Wheat, Oats, Forage Triticale, Forage Winter Peas, Diakon radishes, and annual Clovers. WMS Alabama Blend will provide attractive forage fast and will keep them coming season long. If your goal is to see more deer on your food plots, WMS Alabama Blend is the answer you’ve been waiting for!

    If you’re not planting WMS Alabama Blend… you better hope your neighbor isn’t!

    Planting Directions: Prepare a well-tilled, firm seed-bed.

    Seed Rate: 50 lbs. per ½ acre.

    Depth: Broadcast seeds and cover ¼ inch.

    Fertilizer: Fertilize with 300 lbs. of 13-13-13 per acre at planting. To boost attractiveness and production apply 100 lbs. of 34-0-0 per acre or other Nitrogen equivalent, 60 to 70 days after planting.

     

    WMS Brassica Blend

    WMS Brassica Blend consists of selected forage rape, diakon radish, turnips, and kale. Unlike other brassica type mixes, WMS Brassica Blend is formulated to provide early forage as well as late season cold weather forage. This blend will keep your deer coming from early bow season through the last day of deer season. WMS Brassica Blend will produce tons of high quality forage and will add great diversity to any food plot program.

    Planting Directions:

    • For Sandy to clay loams
    • Plant WMS Brassica Blend from September 1st through October 31st.
    • Plant 10 lbs per acre
    • Recommended pH 5.5 to 7.0
    • If possible, soil test for fertilizer recommendations. If not, apply 300 lbs of 13-13-13 per acre.

     

    WMS Deer Magnet
    • WMS Deer Magnet is the most attractive food plot blend on the market for US soils.

    Forage Triticale & Black Oats are the backbone of this mix. Along with winter peas and annual clovers, they emerge quickly to provide early forage and attraction. Biennial clovers establish in early fall and provide excellent foraging opportunities from fall through mid-summer. Chicory provides summer forage, carrying the plot through the summer stress periods.

    WMS Deer Magnet is a true deer magnet.

    Planting Directions:

    • Broadcast or Drill 50 lbs /acre
    • Plant from Sept. 1st thru Nov. 15th
    • Recommended pH is 6.0 to 7.0
    • If possible, soil test for fertilizer recommendations. If not, apply 300 lbs of 13-13-13 per acre

     

     

    WMS No-Till Blend
    • AVAILABLE AROUND JULY-AUGUST

    WMS No-Till is a carefully selected blend of cool season grains, clovers, and brassicas that emerge quickly and grow fast even on less than fertile shady sites. The perfect minimal-till choice for logging roads, shady food plots, and wooded openings.

    Planting Instructions

    • If the food plot is not accessible by tillage equipment, clear debris, leaves, and grass from planting area. Use a weed trimmer, rake, or non-selective herbicide. Broadcast seeds and cover using a rake or light drag. Best results will occur with good seed to soil contact. Fertilize with a complete fertilizer and lime according to soil test.
    • Plant 20 lbs. ¼ acre.

    Treated with DeltAg seed coat for maximum germination and seedling vigor.

     

    WMS Perennial Plus

      WMS Perennial Plus is a versatile blend of perennial clovers, and chicory. This blend will provide high quality year-round forage for deer and turkeys. The clovers create a protein rich food source from early fall through early early summer. The chicory provides excellent forage from spring through the fall. This combination of clover and chicory ensures a well-rounded feeding plot that produces quality forage through every month of the year.

      Contains: Ladino Clovers, White Clovers, Red Clovers, and Chicory.

      • Plant 9 pounds per acre.
      • Recommended pH: 6.0 to 7.0
      • Soil Types: Sandy Loams to Clay Loams
      • If possible, soil test for fertilizer recommendations. If not possible to soil test, apply 200 lbs. of 0-20-20 per acre.
      • Prepare a well-tilled seed, firm, seed-bed. Broadcast seeds and cover 1/4 inch. Do not cover seed using a disc. A light drag, culti-packer, or roller is recommended.

       

      WMS TriticOat
      • AVAILABLE AROUND JULY-AUGUST
      • WMS TriticOat is the most productive forage grain blend on the market!

      The highest growth weight tonnage from planting through January and two times the tonnage of most other cereal grains. WMS TriticOat consists of Forage Triticale and Black Oats. The triticale and black oats boast high sucrose levels and unrivaled palatability even when blade lengths reach 8 to 10 inches. Best of all these varieties will not freeze out and will not become unproductive late in the deer season, like other cereal grain varieties. WMS TriticOat will establish quickly to provide early grazing, and recovers fast. Ideal for small plots and areas with high deer densities! WMS TriticOat can be planted alone, but also does great with companion crops like clovers, brassicas, and winter peas.

      Planting Directions

      • Plantings Dates: September to Early November
      • Seed Rate: 100 lbs. per acre
      • Planting Depth: ½ to 1 inch
      • Fertilizer: Apply 300 lbs. 13-13-13 per acre at planting. Additional application of nitrogen fertilizer will boost production through the growing season.

       

      WMS Winter Pea Patch
      • AVAILABLE AROUND JULY-AUGUST

      WMS Winter Pea Patch is a blend of white flowering and forage variety winter peas. This blend consists of Frost Master Winter Peas, Whistler Winter Peas, and Lynx Winter Peas. FrostMaster Winter Peas and Whistler winter peas are noted for their winter hardiness and palatable forage. These varieties also out produce Austrian Winter Peas. Lynx peas are also noted as being very palatable for whitetails. Lynx Peas claim to fame is their better cold tolerance and improved disease resistance. All of these varieties are white flowered, which indicates the absence of tannin. Tannin is a compound that creates a bitter taste in plants. Due to the lack in tannin, they are very sweet, unlike the majority of winter and spring peas.

      Planting Directions:

      • Great for sandy to clay loams!
      • Plant at 30 lbs per acre. Best results are achieved when planted along with a companion crop like, cereral grains, clover or brassicas.
      • Recommended pH: 5.5 to 7.0
      • Depth: 1 inch or less
      • Fertilizer: If possible, soil test for fertilizer recommendations. If not possible, apply 200 lbs of 0-20-20/ acre.

       

      WMS Mississippi Mix
      • AVAILABLE AROUND JULY-AUGUST

      WMS Mississippi Mix is a premium forage blend designed for maximum attraction! This blend was developed to handle heavy deer pressure while providing a high sucrose forage.

      WMS Mississippi Mix consists of Forage Wheat, Black Oats, Forage Triticale, Annual Clovers, Perennial Clovers, Winter Peas and Brassicas.

      Forage Wheat, Black Oats and Triticale establish quickly to provide early grazing. The annual clovers, perennial clovers, and winter peas establish in early fall to provide excellent forage from hunting season through the next summer. The brassicas provide a great late season draw that whitetails can’t resist.

      WMS Mississippi Mix is a complete hunting and feeding plot that will keep the deer in your food plots!

      Planting Directions:

      • Prepare a well-tilled seed bed.
      • Seed Rate: 50 lbs. per ½ to 2/3 acre.
      • Fertilize with 300 lbs. 13-13-13 per acre at planting. Additional applications of Nitrogen will boost production throughout the growing season.

       

      WMS Clover Feast
      • AVAILABLE AROUND JULY-AUGUST

      WMS Clover Feast is diverse blend of annual clovers that have been selected for maximum tonnage and attraction.This blend will produce forage early in the fall, creating a hunting hot spot throughout deer season.These varieties have been selected according to their deer preference, aggressive growth, and ability to handle dry or water logged soils. WMS Clover Feast is not only a great hunting plot but is outstanding for spring and early summer forage plots.Lots of protein and palatable tonnage!

      WMS Clover Feast contains both Frosty Berseem Clover and Fixation Balansa Clover!In recent deer preference trials at Mississippi State University, Frosty Berseem Clover and Fixation Balansa Clover placed first and second in drawing deer during deer season!

      WMS Clover Feast can be planted as a pure stand or added to grains, brassicas, or winter peas.

      For a pure stand, plant 15 to 20 lbs. per acre.In a mix, plant 5 to 10 lbs. per acre.
